Patient-Reported Outcomes Consultant
How do the goals of the PROTEUS Consortium align with your professional interests?
The goals of the PROTEUS Consortium are closely aligned with my professional interests as an independent advisor to pharmaceutical industry on trial design with a focus on Quality of Life (QOL) outcomes. We strive to integrate QOL measures into trial design, ensuring that patient perspectives are a central component of clinical research. This alignment fosters a collaborative environment where we can collectively enhance the relevance and impact of clinical trials on patient care.
How has being a part of the PROTEUS Consortium benefited your work or research?
It has significantly benefited my work by providing central access to cutting-edge resources. The collaborative nature of the Consortium has facilitated the exchange of knowledge and best practices, which has enriched our approach to trial design. Specifically, the Consortium’s emphasis on supporting the standardizing of PRO methodologies has enabled us to implement more robust and meaningful QOL assessments in our trials, ultimately leading to more patient-centered research outcomes.
Can you share any specific examples of how you have utilized the resources provided by the PROTEUS Consortium?
We have implemented their resources and standardized PRO methods in a recent multi-center cancer clinical trial. The guidance and tools included on the PROTEUS website helped us to design a comprehensive PRO component that was seamlessly integrated into the trial’s framework. This not only enhanced the quality of our data but also ensured that the patient voice was effectively captured and considered in the trial’s outcomes. Additionally, the many educational materials offered by PROTEUS have been invaluable in training our many collaborators, industry experts and new members to our group.
